Mattress Tips

Can your mattress and foundation pass this inspection?

  1. Is the mattress stained or soiled?
  2. Are there cuts or tears in the mattress?
  3. Does the mattress surface look uneven?
  4. Is there concentrated wear (sagging spots) where guests usually sleep, around the edges or next to the telephone?
  5. Are the mattress boarders unusually depressed or caving in?
  6. Are any filling materials bunching or have they come loose?
  7. Does the foundation have an uneven or sagging surface?
  8. Are the legs and castors screwed tightly to the base?

Mattress Quality Program

1) Has the Hotel instituted a Mattress Inventory Program?

a) Log the bed sets and room when the new or replacement sets are delivered.

b) Log the location in the room where the new beds are placed.

c) Have the mattress and foundations rotated quarterly.

d) Switch bed locations within the room once a year.

2) Ensure all bases have complete numbers of legs and castors and they are screwed tightly to the base.

3) All mattresses and foundations should be a part of a matching set. Do not mix products from different manufacturers.

Note: On selected models the innovative no turn mattress design means that they will never need turning.
